Photosynthesis

Photosynthesis is the process that plants use to make food. Only plants with green leaves can perform photosynthesis. They need CO2 water, and sunlight. Here is how it works:

The leaves absorb CO2 and sunlight from the air. The roots absorb water from the soil. The stem sends the water from the roots up to the leaves. Then the chlorophyll, which is the green pigment in the leaves, mixes it all together and creates a sugar called glucose. The leaves need six molecules of water, six molecules of carbon dioxide, and light to make one molecule of glucose.
